6 months into my Apprenticeship here at Numiko and I am really enjoying myself. I have learnt so much and have massively developed my skills and knowledge in Web Development. If you would have asked me this time last year what Drupal was, I wouldn’t have had a clue what you were talking about! Ask me now, I can explain to you that it is a Content Management System (CMS) and I have used it to work on sites here at Numiko such as Channel 4, Blue Cross and The Science and Media Museum.
As I am studying an Apprenticeship, as well as working full-time at Numiko, I also attend Training Sessions fortnightly with Happy Computers. In these Training Sessions I have learnt all sorts of things such as Drupal Views, Display Suite, Agile Planning and Creating User Stories. The skills I learn at Training allow me to put them into practice at Numiko, and some are great skills to generally know being a Web Developer. I have a Blog that I update when I have learnt something new.
From the Projects I have worked on at Numiko, I have been more involved with the Front-End team. I do seem to enjoy Front-End tasks a little more than Back-End. I have also been involved in Maintenance tasks where I am assigned tickets and my task is to test that a problem has been solved. Whether it be Cross-Browser, Cross-Platform or testing in the CMS itself.
Everyone here at Numiko are a friendly bunch and I love the relaxed but busy atmosphere. Everyone is always happy to help, and give demonstrations of anything they think would be beneficial to know or learn.
