At the Weekend, several of us Apprentices attended a Drupal Conference in Manchester which was ran by NWDUG. An Unconference is the complete opposite to a Conference. At a Conference, a schedule is usually decided before the event and the whole day is structured around these talks. At an Unconference, there is no agenda and it is left to the people attending to create one. Each attendee is encouraged to come with a talk which should last around 30 minutes including questions at the end.
If you came with a talk, you would write it on a post it and bang it on the board under one of the times. There was 2 rooms at Unconf – one named Track 1 and the other Track 2. All the talks were then narrowed down to which people would most like to see throughout the day. Most of the talks were about Drupal, but there were other talks on things like Image Optimisation, Git and Unit Testing.
The talks I attended were Drupal 8 Testing, Image Optimisation for the Rich and Famous, Git in 3 parts, The Basics of Unit Testing and Drupal Deployer. Overall, it was a great day with over 50 attendees from people all over the UK!
